Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a combination of psychotherapy interventions that focus on helping the client understand the connections between thoughts, emotions, and behavior.  Clients will learn coping skills that will help them control mood, impulses, and improve daily functioning.  Typical interventions include psychoeduction, reading assignments, worksheets, behavior charting, relaxation skill development and mindfulness exercises.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

EMDR is a simple and effective therapy that can help your brain process traumatic or hurtful memories.  Clients will be able to gain new insights into their troubling experiences and find relief from emotional pain.  Symptoms of trauma are lessened (hypervigilence, nightmares, triggers) and overall wellbeing improves.

Certified Clinical Military Counselor

Trained and certified to provide compassionate care to military personnel and their family members.  This includes sensitivity to the special circumstances and unique aspects of military life during the therapeutic process.

Making the decision to see a therapist can be hard, but it could be a turning point in your life.  It takes courage to say, “I need help” and take this first step to feeling better.  You may be suffering from emotional pain from a recent tragedy or something traumatic from your past.  You may be facing a big decision and feel unsure of yourself and your ability to make the right choices.  You may be tired of living with depression or anxiety that seems crippling.  Whatever the reason you are seeking help, choosing the right therapist to help you work through these issues is important.  What I provide, as your therapist, is an experience that is enlightening, comforting and encouraging.  You will have the guidance needed to work through difficult circumstances and find peace and understanding in the process.  I have over 25 years of experience in the behavioral healthcare industry and have been practicing as a licensed therapist for the past two years through the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors.  I am a member of the following professional organizations:  American Counselors Association, the American Association of Christian Counselors and the Licensed Professional Counselor Association of North Carolina.  I generally work with teenagers, college students, adults, couples and families.  Thank you for considering me and I look forward to joining you at this turning point.
